Bumpdate | 29 Weeks

Happy new year!  Conoon and I spent a wonderful 6 days in Hawaii for our winter vacation and babymoon.  I dropped lots of no-so-subtle hints earlier this year about us going on a babymoon before the arrival of our girl. #inception.  And it worked!  We budgeted it early on and arranged plans to visit the island of Kauai.  The timing of winter break at work couldn’t have been better.  A post about Kauai and our GoPro adventures there will be coming soon, but here’s a little sneak peek 😉

Our New Year’s weekend was chill and spent with family.  On New Year’s Eve, we watched the Times Square NYE countdown and were surprised by gigantic backyard fireworks we could see from the balcony of our apartment.

My nieces and nephew (Serra 10, Celine 8, Sammy 6, Rocky 2) are super sweet and always curious to see how much Baby has grown.  Whenever they come over, the first thing they ask to see is my belly, to which they usually reply “WHOA it’s so big!”  I love that they’re able to witness her development and can’t wait for them to meet her in person in March.  They’re going to be awesome 언니’s and cousins to her— makes me want to happy cry thinking about it.

One week into the third trimester and my belly is getting big!!!!  It now measures at 28 inches from the top of my pubic bone to the top of the uterus.  At the doctor’s last week, I weighed in at 120 pounds, which means I gained around 15 pounds so far.

The most noticeable change is that sleep doesn’t come easily anymore.  Some nights have me tossing and turning for over an hour; finding a comfortable sleeping position is a challenge even with the help of a pregnancy pillow.  Adding to this little quirk is my body temperature.  Though it’s finally getting colder in LA these days, I feel really hot almost all the time even if my skin feels cold to the touch.

Cravings: nothing specific these days.  I keep saying boba but that’s probably just me wanting it vs. the baby wanting it.

Baby Milestone: baby hiccups! Baby is moving often nowadays, and a lot of times in steady little pulses.  They really do feel like little human hiccups!  I usually feel them around an hour or two before I go to bed or as I’m laying in bed in the morning as soon as I wake up.

January Goals:

  • Walk around the block every day as soon as I’m home from work (though I didn’t walk today because it was raining, oops).
  • Paint the nursery (I mean, have Conoon do it heh)
  • Finish buying all big-ticket baby items
  • Host a baby shower

That’s it for now…. Sadly, no baby bump pic this week because I didn’t get around to it =(  Next time!
